The first section of the trail is 48 km long and runs from Falköping to Ulricehamn. The section is almost car-free and goes through a beautiful cultural and natural landscape on an old embankment. Along the route there are several interesting sights, as well as accommodation facilities.
In Falköping, you can enjoy the good life. The town offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and accommodation options. Thanks to grazing animals and abundant harvests, the municipality still has opportunities for successful local production of culinary necessities and delicacies. There is also the plateau mountain Mösseberg, which invites you to various nature and outdoor activities.
The stage to Ulricehamn is 48 km and mostly car-free. Along the route, there are bike path signs pointing towards Ulricehamn.
You will travel through both rural communities and a beautiful natural and cultural landscape. Don’t miss the Luttra passage grave, one of the most famous of Falbygden’s more than 200 passage graves. It was constructed during the Stone Age, around 5500 years ago, as a large tomb. Inside the passage grave, archaeologists have found bones from about 100 individuals.
In Åsarp, you can visit Ekehagen's Ancient Village, one of Sweden’s largest archaeological open-air museums. Along a beautiful nature trail, recreated settlement environments from the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages can be found. There is also food and coffee service available.
The Olsbro Stone is a 1000-year-old runestone located 1 km from Åsarp. It is the most famous and, according to many, the most beautiful of the 20 or so runestones found around Falbygden.
In Blidsberg, you will find Basta Kvarn, a beautiful mill café with outdoor seating right by ponds filled with game fish. The trail also passes the Baktrågen Nature Reserve, with its varied landscape featuring interesting ridge formations and rare plants.
In Timmele, you will find a grocery store, pizzeria, and several attractions. This is where Sweden’s best-preserved hollow roads are located, which are ridetrails that have become deep sunken paths through centuries of use and erosion.
